Let Fabric Speak

Sylvia Einstein

July 10 – August 25, 2012

Sylvia Einstein considers her work to be modern versions of traditional quilts. She works extensively with grids and blocks but often breaks seam lines visually, resulting in unexpected lines and patterns.

Sylvia Einstein made her first quilt in 1975 to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States.  She was born & educated in Switzerland and came to the U.S.A in 1965.  “I discovered quilting and found myself thoroughly engaged in a very American art form.  I have exhibited on four continents, my work has appeared in numerous magazines, and I have lectured in the USA, Europe and South Africa.”
